Adventures in Prague

There is something magical about this city with a collection of Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, Bohemian, Roman Empire, and Habsburg Monarchy and Austro-Hungarian Empire residual influences! We showed up to Prague after watching a St. Martin’s play at our son’s school, to then be asked if our St. Martin’s play actor would like to enjoy the traditional St. Martin’s Day goose meal. Our time in Prague was spent gazing over the Vltava River, people watching in the Old Town Square, walking over the Charles Bridge to frequently stop at the religious scenes packed along the bridge, watching my kids blowing bubbles in front of the Prague Castle, observing the Prague astronomical clock, tearful experiences in the Jewish quarter, shopping in the new and old areas of the town, and exercising our gastronomic preferences. While we had said no to the St. Martin’s Day goose, we certainly did not starve as legend says for omitting goose from our first dinner meal. We had the most delicious food during our days filled with walking in Prague. The quintessential Czech food and street food, especially the Trdelník pastries, sausages called klobásy, noodles with ham in a cheesy sauce, and potatoes on a stick all filled us with calories to fuel our kilometers of steps and our hearts with happiness. Warm mulled wine was widely available in the evenings to warm us up as we explored Prague.
