Photos from Bali

While living south of Tokyo, Japan we flew to Bali, Indonesia. My family and I had a wonderful time in Bali. Editing through photos made the smells, sounds, and feelings of visiting the rice fields, the Hindu temples, the streets and markets of Ubud, the beaches, the locals, and the various animals we encountered during our trip while visiting the beautiful island of Bali come back alive.  The sunsets, the food, the smell and feel of the humid rainfalls, and the atmosphere of Bali was a worth while experience together. The island of Bali is primarily Hindu within the mostly Muslim country of Indonesia. I also remember fondly keeping a watchful eye over my young toddler age daughter when she was around the Hindu offering plates; within the first day of sightseeing with stealth she stole some candies out of one offering plate and shoved them in her mouth. Taking inventory of flowers, candy, ants, and food in subsequent offering plates at her level became a fun activity for our daughter during our trip.

Lake Bled, Slovenia

We ventured through Austria into Slovenia to spend the long early November weekend in Lake Bled. The city of Bled is a quintessential area to visit in Eastern Europe. The aerial views from the Bled Castle, and the Bell Tower of the Assumption of Mary Church on the islet are amazing.  The Julian Alps look down upon beautiful Lake Bled with its activity of the rare breed of  “quieter trumpeting” Swans, busy ducks, tourists with cameras, and the paddle propelled boats traversing the lake. The stops along the walkable trails that circumference the lake, boast of delicious seafood from the Adriatic Sea, heavy Slovenian meals of meat, potatoes, and bread, and food from around the world. The delicious Slovenian cream cake did not disappoint either. We enjoyed our trip to Lake Bled, and look forward to returning again during spring or early  summer.
